Where is serial number on Suntour fork?
If your fork is from China you can identify your fork as follows: On the left side of the lower you should find a sticker. This is for model identification. The needled number on the crown is for production date identification.

Do SunTour forks use oil?
All SR SUNTOUR forks are lubricated from our factory using proprietary grease. This grease can break down over time and have an oil-like appearance. It should be wiped away from the stanchion tubes with a clean, dry rag.
Is there a fake RockShox?
Without an identifiable product serial number, it is impossible to distinguish a genuine RockShox fork from a counterfeit reproduction. The counterfeit fork may look like a genuine RockShox product. Genuine RockShox forks have a unique serial number that is laser engraved on the backside of the fork crown.
Is suntour compatible with Shimano?
Suntour requires a different amount of cable pull compared to Shimano to move the same amount of lateral distance across the cogset. Specifically, Shimano derailleurs require about 10% more cable travel to achieve the same amount of movement across the cogset than Accushift.
Are suntour components any good?
Current Suntour was purchased by SR so it is not even the same company. That said, they do make some decent stuff, nothing top end mind you but their parts at the low end spectrum of bikes work pretty much as well as their more known counter parts (Shimano and SRAM).
How long do suspension forks last?
Fox recommends that the minimum suspension fork and shock service is 125 hours of use, yearly, or whichever comes first. That is certainly on the longer side of things. Similar to changing the oil in your car, the more frequently you service your suspension, the better the fork will perform for longer.
Can I use WD40 on my bike suspension?
Please don’t use WD40, GT85 or any similar products! Instead of cleaning your seals, they will wash away the grease under the seals, letting dirt in much more easily– even if you’re careful you will also risk contamination of brake rotors/pads and these products can also dry out seals.
Are Suntour forks good?
We were thoroughly impressed with the performance of the SR Suntour Auron, TriAir package. Even though the fork makes a sloshy-kind of sound under rebound, it’s a noise we can deal with for the performance/value ratio. The noise is easy to forgive with the amount of confidence and control gained.
