SFI is a certification that demonstrates that the manufacturer certifies the racing equipment has been laboratory tested to meet or exceed SFI safety specifications. This gives consumers and sanctioning bodies a way to differentiate a certified product from one that is untested.

Do SFI fire suits expire?
Initial certifications last for 5 years. Re-certification adds an additional 5 years. A One-time Re-certification available for PROFOX SFI 3.2A/15 (SFI-15) suits only. Our SFI 3.2A/1 and 3.2A/5 suits do not expire and do not need to be recertified.

How long is SFI certification?

SFI 38.1 head and neck restraints must be recertified every 5 years to maintain SFI certification. All devices that pass inspection will receive a new SFI 38.1 conformance sticker marked with the inspection date. The recertification will remain valid for 5 years.

How long does a racing suit last?
The length of time that any item of racewear will be suitable for use in FIA sanctioned competition will be 10 years. So, if your race suit was manufactured in 2019, the expiry date would be the end of 2029. This expiry date, currently, only has relevance for FIA events.
