What is RTL AGC?
RTL AGC turns on the RTL2832U chips internal automatic gain control (AGC) algorithm. Tuner AGC enables the RTL-SDR tuners AGC. The AGC’s attempt to automatically optimize the SNR of the signals. Finally, the gain slider can be used to manually set the gain.
What is direct sampling SDR?
The RTL-SDR software defined radio can be told to run in a mode called “direct sampling mode”, which with a small hardware mod allows the dongle to tune to the HF frequencies where ham radio and many other interesting signals are found. This means that no upconverter circuit is required.
What is DSD plus?
DSDPlus is a Win32 application capable of reliably decoding multiple types of digital audio formats commonly found on VHF, UHF and 800 MHz, including (but not necessarily limited to): P25 Phase 1. ProVoice EDACS Digital voice. X2-TDMA – Motorola public safety TDMA system with P25 style signaling (mostly based on DMR)
What is R820T2?
The R820T2 is the tuner chip used on most RTL-SDR dongles. It is also used on the Airspy, a more advanced higher end SDR. All in all, it is a very good tuner chip, but it is mostly limited by the low-bit ADC on the RTL2832U chip in the RTL-SDR.
What is tuner AGC?
Automatic Gain Control (AGC) is a feature that automatically adjusts the slice receiver’s audio gain (volume) based on the strength of signal levels in the receiver’s passband filter. The goal of AGC is to amplify weak signals and attenuate strong signals so that they all lie within a comfortable listening range.
How do you start an Airspy?

What is direct sampling Q branch?
Direct sampling means youre just receiving 0-12 MHz worth of bandwidth from a special mod on the RTL chip. The AM LSB USB are all gonna be there. The reason the Q branch is used is due to I branch being imaginary. Quadrature sampling means you will be receiving above 24 Mhz to 1766 Mhz.
