What is Benlate used for?
Benlate, a fungicide, has been used for over 20 years in Florida to treat agricultural crops and ornamentals. In the past few years, there have been reports of crop damage and health effects from exposure.
What is Benlate fungicide?
Benomyl (also marketed as Benlate) is a fungicide introduced in 1968 by DuPont. It is a systemic benzimidazole fungicide that is selectively toxic to microorganisms and invertebrates, especially earthworms, but nontoxic toward mammals.
How do you make a benomyl solution?

- Make a 10mg/ml stock of benomyl in DMSO.
- place a stir bar into a 500ml flask or bottle.
- add 250ml YEPD + 5g Agar.
- autoclave and cool to 55oC in a water bath.

- pour plates and allow to dry for 2 days on bench top then store at 4oC.

How do you use benomyl fungicide?
