How many people have been indicted by ICTR?
Overview. The ICTR indicted a total of 96 individuals. Two individuals remain at large as fugitives and if captured they will be tried before the International Residual Mechanism for Criminal Tribunals (the IRMCT). The case against one individual is in the pre-trial stage.

At the beginning of 1995, the UN Security Council passed a resolution setting up the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda (ICTR), based in Arusha, Tanzania. It was an experiment in international justice that lasted 21 years. The tribunal formally comes to an end when it closes on December 31, 2015.
What is the difference between tribunal and court?
Tribunals can be described as minor courts, that adjudicates disputes arising in special cases. Court refers to a part of legal system which are established to give their decisions on civil and criminal cases. A tribunal may be a party to the dispute. Court judges are impartial arbitrator and not a party.

Tribunals hold many valuable assets in aiding the justice system. They are cost effective as tribunals do not charge a fee, and each party pays their own costs compared to the courts where the loser pays for the legal fees of the winning party.
Who funded the ICTR?
The ICTY Outreach Programme is a UN Trust Fund and as such has been entirely funded by voluntary contributions from member states and various institutions. The Programme is generously supported by the European Union.
