Lolth is a demon lord and a goddess worshipped by the drow (some myths propose that she was originally a goddess who was transformed into a demon). She displays formidable power and great cruelty with an affection for arachnids.
What book is yochlol?
The yochlol first appeared in the Advanced Dungeons & Dragons game’s second edition in the Forgotten Realms sourcebook, The Drow of the Underdark (1991), by Ed Greenwood. A two-page description appears in the back of the book, in the “Monsters of the Underdark” section.

How are Driders made?
Creation. Driders were created from drow in an agonizing process that required a yochlol, or to be more precise Lolth’s power as channeled through the demon, during the ritual that initiated the process. Only drow could be turned into driders. The change could be reverted with a wish spell.
What is a behir?
Description. A behir was often mistaken for a wingless blue dragon. It had a long, snake-like body and could slither on the ground like a snake, but it also had six pairs of legs upon which it could walk or climb if it chose to do so. Each of a behir’s twelve feet contained three clawed toes.
Is Lolth a fey?
Lolth was once a fey goddess and lover of Corellon, but she aligned with Gruumsh against the other fey gods, causing the split between the elves, eladrin and drow, her followers.

Driders were bloodthirsty. They kept their memories and personalities from their time as a drow but added to this came a sense of shame, hatred, and fear that made them violent hunters. Most harbored a death wish that made them want to die in battle— preferably when fighting drow.
