Is durock water resistant?
Even though water will not affect USG Durock® Cement Board with EdgeGuard, the board alone is not waterproof. If waterproofing is desired, apply a waterproofing membrane such as USG Durock™ Waterproofing Membrane or USG Durock™ Liquid Waterproofing and Crack Isolation Membrane over the cement board.
What is Durock cement board used for?

Can Hardieboard get wet?

Is cement board water resistant?
Cement board is not waterproof. It absorbs moisture as well, but it has excellent drying properties.
Is durock better than green board?
Durock may be harder to cut, and cost a few more dollars, however, it’s more durable and truly “water resistant” material than Greenboard! So the next time when you hear your contract offer you to use of Greenboard ask them what the difference is and see what they’ll say.
Is durock fireproof?
A Durock panel with a thickness of 1/2 or 5/8 inch can provide two hours of fire protection when installed correctly and in conjunction with all fireproofing construction materials.
Can durock get mold?
Durock is a concrete tile backer board that is water and fire resistant. It made up of ground up concrete that is wrapped with fiberglass mesh around it to help hold it together. You can submerge Durock under water and it will not disintegrate or mold.
Do you need waterproofing membrane on cement board?
First, you should provide a waterproof/resistant membrane against the wood studs before installing the concrete backer-board to protect the wood studs from moisture absorbed through the backer-board.
