How much RowaPhos do I use?
Answer: ROWA suggest around 100g per 400L on a saltwater aquarium and 100g per 800L on a freshwater aquarium. If the aquarium is heavily stocked then this ammount can be increased by 30% but it is best to use small amounts that is changed more frequently than large amounts changed less frequently.
Can you use too much RowaPhos?
The use of excess amounts of ROWAphos may strip the phosphate down to zero and therefore disrupt metabolic processes.
Is RowaPhos any good?
In freshwater aquariums, RowaPhos is twice as effective for removal of phosphate and we are generally using the media for controlling nuisance algae. We recommend that you keep the level below 0.1 ppm (PO4) or 0.03 ppm (P).
How do you use RowaPhos without a reactor?
ROWAphos can be used in a media bag. As water cannot run through the media freely it is not as efficient as running it in a reactor but it will still work and be effective in controlling phosphate.

How do you use RowaPhos?
Place the product between two layers of filter wool in a canister filter. Do not sprinkle into the your reef tank. Do not place it into water without surrounding it with filter wool. RowaPhos recommends that you use a small quantity and replace regularly rather than a large amount and replace infrequently.
Does RowaPhos lower alkalinity?
If you over dose Rowaphos and pull down PO4 rapidly you may find that Calcium and Alkalinity will start to precipitate locally at the media surface and you will see a drop in Alkalinity in the aquarium, this will be made all the worse if your Magnesium is also low.
How often do you change RowaPhos?
The reality for someone blindly using RowaPhos is that they start off at 5 ppm and reduce it to 4 ppm by using the wrong sized pack, which they replace after 2 – 3 months by which time the concentration has returned to or exceeded its original level.
Does RowaPhos remove nitrates?
Rowaphos is iron oxide hudroxide. It doesn’t reduce nitrate.
Is RowaPhos a Gfo?
Rowaphos is just a brand of GFO. There are many brands that work just fine.

To eliminate phosphate successfully, it is necessary to use Rowaphos in a new or matured aquarium on a permanent basis. Note: Do not rinse Rowaphos before use! In some cases the use of Rowaphos can turn the aquarium water slightly brown in color due to the dislocation of finer particles of the material.
