The 4A-FE is a 1.6L but the 5A-FE is a 1.5L. Another difference is power output. The 4A-FE lays out 102HP and 101 FT-LBS torque, but the 5A-FE puts out 105HP and 97 FT-LBS of torque. Besides that, the motors are practically identical.
