How to install a Fence Post using a Metpost
- Mark out where the post is going to go.
- Install the Metpost ensuring to keep it straight.
- Put the fence post into the Metpost.
- Attach a sacrificial piece of timber and hammer into place.
- Measure and mark the next position.
- Materials needed. Wooden Fence Post. Batten. Metpost. String.
Does post buddy work?
Yes, Post Buddy will work on a round post, as long as your post is set in a concrete base. It’s the concrete base which is important, as it provides a firm, below-ground anchor for our system. You will need to position the Post Buddys as close to directly opposite each other as possible when fixing a round post.
How deep should a concrete spur be?
2 ft
Lawsons experts recommend you should dig a hole which has a depth of 2 ft (24 in / 600mm) to ensure you have a stable timber or concrete fence post.
How good are fence post spikes?
Due to their steel construction, the fence post anchor spikes will last for years and years (some even lasting for up to 50 years!). Even though your posts may not last quite that long, you won’t need to dig a hole again, reset concrete, or anything like that.
Are post spikes any good?
Fence post anchor spikes work well by allowing one to place and remove fence posts without having to dig large holes. A fence that uses fence post anchor spikes is just as stable as a fence with posts set in concrete, with the added benefit of minimizing the rotting of the fence posts.

Does the post buddy go through concrete?
Provided the installation instructions are followed correctly and the Post Buddy stake is driven in angled towards the fence post, it will go into the wood of the fence post, not the concrete.
How do you straighten a fence post without removing it?
If your post is rocking around inside of its concrete footing, a good solution is a steel wedge. These can be driven between the post and concrete footing to straighten a leaning or wobbly post.
What size Spurs to fix?
A repair spur is an alternative to complete replacement and can even be used on new fences if using wooden posts. Repair Spurs are available in two sizes: 1.2m x 100mm x 100mm or 1m x 75mm x 75mm.
How do you use a metpost repair spur?
Metpost Repair Spur 100×100 This resolves the problem of rotted posts which have broken off at ground level but have a solid concrete base. You simply square off the broken post at ground level and tap the repair spur into the remaining wood which is supported by the surrounding concrete base. Suitable for 99mm to 103mm wide posts.

Would you recommend metpost for gazebo?
Would recommend the product just not the continual bad service. I had to move a gazebo that had the four corner posts cemented in. Cut the posts used metpost to hold up new corners and it kept it all the same height . All done in half a day brilliant Good price and good value, as described.
