How do you use a Kuretake brush pen?
Hold the pen at a steep angle to color wide areas! Hold the pen straight up to draw fine lines and create handwriting effects! Use a water brush pen or paintbrush dipped in water to blend and create watercolor effects! These pens are fantastic for brush lettering, drawing and watercolor effects!
What is the white brush pen for?
White Ink : Ideal for adding white highlights to illustrations and manga or comics. Can be used on alcohol based markers as well as water-based pigment ink. Brush Pen: Extra fine brush tip easily creates fine lines. Brush pen white is easier and more convenient to use than bottled white ink.
Are Kuretake pens refillable?
The ink refills for the Kuretake pen come in packets of 5. Simply unscrew the knib pull out the expended ink cartridge and snap in a new one. You are ready to keep on using your pen!
Is Kuretake brush pen waterproof?
The Kuretake brush pen does NOT come with waterproof ink. And the ink is not extremely black (I darkened my drawings so don’t judge the ink colours in the drawings.) As you can see from my demonstration, when clear water is applied over the ink line, ink bleeds out.
Can you refill brush pen?
The pen is slightly heavier than a normal brush pen, weighs like a fountain pen. The cartridges can be refilled with ink (just check some y*utube videos for this easy diy). A must have in every artist’s arsenal. The only drawback is that the price is quite steep.

The best ink to use in brush pens is probably the Sailor KiwaGuro, made by the same company that makes the Sailor fountain pens. This ink is dark, dries relatively fast, is matte when dry and flows well. When used to cover large areas, the application is also quite even.
