How do you flash a kernel?
Reboot your smartphone to Recovery Mode. Wipe Dalvik Cache, Cache, System and Vendor (although wiping system is not necessary, but not wiping it can cause bootloop). Now, flash latest Magisk zip if you haven’t flashed already. Finally, install custom kernel and once again wipe dalvik cache.

What happens when we change kernel?
Depends on which ROM you are on. If on stock ROM then you can switch between custom kernels with little or no issues at all. If Custom ROM with Custom Kernel then it might cause you boot loops when you install a custom kernel which was not build for that custom rom.
