What is Resolene used for?
Fiebing’s Acrylic Resolene Finish is a thin, flexible, durable, water resistant acrylic top leather finish for smooth leathers, used for sealing the surface of dyed, antiqued, aged (patinated) or polished leathers. This finish is well known as a surface finish of top-quality shoes or handbags.

Using a cloth, wool or sponge
- Apply Resolene on leather.
- Use circular motion.
- Evenly coat the surface.
- Apply moderate pressure.
Should I dilute Resolene?
Start with 10-15% water and adjust up to a maximum 30% from there depending on temperature and sprayer type. Note that the more water added, the less of a seal the Resolene will form. Newer.
Can you air brush Resolene?
Once thinned, it can also be applied via airbrush, for a light and even application. Once dry, you can buff Resolene to help smooth the finish and boost the shine. Resolene has the highest shine of the finishes we carry.
Should I use Resolene?
Resolene has the highest shine of the finishes we carry. It is safe for use over leather dye, antiques, and natural leather (do not use on Suede). Some leather workers prefer not to use Resolene because they feel the acrylic finish doesn’t look or feel natural. But just as many use it as their go to for every project.
