Are Ofsted behind schedule 2021?
Ofsted has confirmed that from September 2021 it will return to a full programme of school inspections. It has recently published a schools and early education update for inspectors, summarising some of the key changes to the School Inspection Handbook and the Section 8 Handbook.
How often do Ofsted inspect colleges?

When Ofsted has judged a school to be good or outstanding after a section 5 inspection, we will then normally go into the school about once every four years to confirm that the school remains good or outstanding and that safeguarding is effective. This is called a section 8 inspection of a good or outstanding school.

If concerns are raised to Ofsted about the safety of pupils or staff, an inspection can be triggered. For example, if information may suggest that there has been a serious breakdown of leadership or management within the school.

Yes, getting the call on the Friday for a Monday – Tuesday inspection does seem a little unfair as a school would have longer to prepare.

How much do Ofsted inspectors earn?
As a full time inspector working for Ofsted, your salary would range from between £40,000 to £70,000, depending on your ability, location and experience. If you were only employed as a temporary inspector, you could expect a fee of around £1,600 per week employed.
How much notice do Ofsted give colleges?
We give schools half a day’s notice and FES providers two days’ notice (though Ofsted has the power to inspect without notice where we have concerns).
Does Ofsted inspect colleges?
Ofsted is to inspect all of England’s schools and colleges in an attempt to gauge how well the education system is recovering after the pandemic. All the more than 24,000 schools and 335 further-education providers will be inspected at least once, including last term’s inspections, by summer 2025.
Can Ofsted just turn up unannounced?
Ofsted will continue to carry out unannounced inspections throughout the academic year. By conducting the first wave within a two-week window, Ofsted will be able to make an early assessment of their impact. A full report for every inspection will be published on the Ofsted website.
Can you refuse Ofsted?
If providers have concerns about the timing of their inspection or visit, they can request a deferral. We will judge every request on its own merits, in line with this policy. A request for a deferral, even if it is refused, will never have an impact on how we view a provider on inspection.
What questions do Ofsted ask on the phone?
