What is a Socktober?
You must be wondering, ‘What in the world is Socktober? ‘ Well, it is a made-up word based on SOCK and OCTOBER. We are using the term to let people know that this October we are dedicating to donating socks to kids in foster care.
Where did Socktober originate?
In October 2011, creator Brad Montague realized there was a large homeless population in his hometown, and he wanted to do something about it. While researching the needs of the homeless community, he learned that socks are the items least donated to homeless shelters. So Brad took action.

What day is Socktober?
Socktober is a program that helps students connect with and celebrate World Mission Month throughout October. Registrations for Socktober 2021 are now open and we encourage you to work through the Socktober Challenge in the six weeks (excluding holidays) between 6 September and 29 October.
What is sock it to poverty?
Join our Sock it! to Poverty campaign and all we ask if that for just ONE day, you encourage everyone in your school, college or workplace to wear their most brilliant, silliest socks and donate just £1.
Why do we celebrate Socktober?

What is Catholic mission for Socktober?
Socktober is a program exclusively run by Catholic Mission, and raises funds for programs benefiting children around the world. Each year, we choose a focus country to represent how the funds raised through Socktober will benefit children overseas.
Why are socks the most requested item in homeless shelters?
Socks. Living on the street, many unsheltered people rarely take their shoes off. They walk often and don’t always have laundry facilities at close reach. That’s why clean socks are a reliably top-requested item at homeless shelters.

What is Socktober and why is it so popular?
Since then, Socktober has exploded! Kids and adults around the world have started their own sock drives to benefit their local homeless shelters. In 2013, Socktober teamed up with Kid President to spread the word and encourage more people to participate. Last year, participants on all seven continents donated pairs of socks!
Will socks&souls host Socktober sock drives in 2020?
Due to COVID-19, Socks & Souls will unfortunately not be hosting any Socktober Sock Drives in 2020 in order to help keep everyone safe!

What do you need to participate in socks&souls?
