How do I know what size wader to get?
The three most important measurements to size yourself for waders are:
- your largest girth around in inches (chest, waist, or hips)
- your inseam in inches (crotch to floor)
- your shoe size.
How do I know what size wading boot to get?
Wading boots should be sized one size up from a standard hiking boot. The extra space is given so that anglers can fit comfortably into their boots while wearing wading socks. If you plan on fishing cold waters in early season, adding an extra half size to your boot size is a good idea.

Should you buy waders a size bigger?
Certain brands will only offer a standard size. This might work great if you fit the mold of “average” shape and build, but they often make them a little larger than necessary to be more of a one size fits all.

Can waders be too big?
The important thing is to ensure they don’t feel too loose or tight when moving. It’s better to be slightly too big than slightly too small. However, keep in mind that if you plan on fishing in cooler water then know that because of its larger size you’ll lose insulation much quicker because it’s so baggy.
What size waders do I Need?

What is the difference between a medium and a large size wader?
Size “Large” is similar in height to the medium but has more room in the body. Generally speaking, someone whose height is between 4’9″ and 5’10” whose jean size is between a 10 and 12 fits comfortably in a “Large”. The “X-Large” offers even more room in the body of the wader.
