Like vanilla, MEC troopers are chosen from the soldier roster on the base. Only soldiers with a rank of Lance Corporal or above, that are not Officers or Psionics, are eligible for MEC training; the higher the rank, the more abilities the MEC will start with.

Mind Control lasts 4 turns. When the first Avatar is encountered by using the Skulljack on a Codex, a Psi Operative with the Solace ability is incredibly useful for removing Mind Control from your units.

Successfully finishing a generic Avatar Project Facility mission reduces the Avatar Project Progress by a value equal to the progress that facility has contributed. The value is visible as the number of red dots below the facility on the Geoscape. There does not appear to be an upper limit.
