Insert the clear hose into the fuel line, prime up the engine, and start it up! Let it run for a little while and carefully watch the fuel passing through the clear hose. Should the primer bulb stay hard?
The bulb is NOT suppose to stay hard. It only delivers the fuel to the engine. Then the two check valves open and allow fuel to flow. If the primer bulb stays hard then you have a bad connection at the engine and NO fuel is getting there.
Why does my outboard stall when I give it gas?
This is because a rich fuel mixture is over-saturated with gas, causing ignition problems. Mixtures that have too much air and not enough fuel are lean and tend to reduce the amount of power available under load and can cause stalling.
