Is there any benefit to playing bullet chess?
IIRC, some of the benefits were that you would learn time management, how to quickly recognize patterns for when you are in time trouble, and you can rapidly try out lots of different openings. One caviat was that you should play with the same time delay as you do in your serious games.
When should you play bullet chess?
Honestly it’s up to you as long as you get in your longer controls and do puzzles it’s fine. Think about it this way rapid is where you learn and grow, Blitz and bullet are your instincts from that learning. Granted if you do like 5|5 then it’s closer to rapid but still not a ton of time.
