'Stardust'
is featured on Starlog magazine August
13, 2007
The
current issue of Starlog
magazine features Stardust
movie on its cover. Starlog is a magazine
dedicated to fantasy and Sci-Fi movies.
Inside this issue, you can found an extensive
report about Stardust
with several articles such as: The
Art Of Charles Vess, He illustrates
lands of imagination; Making
Stardust, Matthew Vaughn directs
the stellar film and This
Hero Reluctant: Charlie Cox searches
for a falling star.
There's also a small part of the interview
with Matthew Vaughn
on the website, with a nice comment on
Michelle:
“Michelle
was my number-one choice for Lamia, because
I wanted someone who is the personification
of beauty, and she is. That adds to the
impact of Lamia falling apart and then
becoming young and beautiful again. Michelle
is such a talented actress, and she hasn’t
been seen in a while."
'Stardust'
wasn't the expected success in its first
weekend August
13, 2007
Finally
Stardust
wasn't good enough this 1st weekend. The
movie made only $9 million at the box
office.
According Yahoo!
Movies site, Paramount's "Stardust,"
a well-reviewed adult fairy tale starring
Michelle Pfeiffer,
didn't fare as well. It was placed the
fourth place behind "The
Simpsons Movie," but not as
much as might be expected for a film with
a cast that included Robert
DeNiro, Peter
O'Toole and Claire
Danes.
Now Paramount's head of worldwide marketing
and distribution, Rob
Moore, says: "The
movie's theme made it difficult to market
in a 30-second TV spot. When you make
an original movie, it's always very challenging
to be able to communicate to your audience
what the genre is. These movies tend to
be driven by word of mouth and home entertainment."
Moore said it is expected to do better
in international markets. The movie, which
cost about $70 million to make, will be
rolled out in Europe and other markets
in October.
Well, and since here, such I reported
yesterday, many of us --pfans who follow
the career of Michelle and are interested
on seeing the success of Pfeiffer-- think
that Paramount has been just spinning,
they know they screwed up. The trailer
and tv spots completely misrepresent the
film, and they hardly did any marketing
for the movie.
Michelle
Pfeiffer's come back at TVE1 [Spanish
Television] August
12, 2007
"Corazón,
Corazón" is a serious-gossip-tv-magazine
in TVE1, the national television in Spain
presented by Cristina
Ramos. Today, they have reported
about the event in Hollywood Walk of Fame
and the come-back of Michelle
Pfeiffer to the movies with Stardust
and Hairspray.
A nice report with footage of several
events which Michelle has attended. Is
is in Spanish.

Stardust:
Box-Office Forescat & first impressions August
11, 2007
The
Box-Office forescat for Stardust
doesn't look like too good. According
to one of our pfans and collaborators,
Jaws,
many web sites said that the movie would
make $11 millions in its first weekend,
and $60 millions as total. Also Juanita,
other of our collaborators, reported on
the Pforum,
it made only $3 million on Friday, so
it look slike only $ 9 million opening
weekend.
The film has entered at the #4 place
on the Box-Office
Chart, even below The
Simpson Movie (#3) and The
Bourne Ultimatum (#2).
Many Pfans has blamed Paramount
for the bad marketing campaign with the
movie during these last weeks. So we have
to wait that people like the movie and
they count the experience to others...
It can prove the success of Hairspray
which has gone up places since the release.
And in spite of it, on the other hand
we have already found the very first impressions
of people who has seen Stardust,
they have said really rave reviews on
Michelle Pfeiffer
in the movie:
[...]
But the movie belongs
to Michelle Pfeiffer. In a welcome return
to fairyland, Pfeiffer reminds us that
she is still one of the big screen’s
most enchanting beauties. She hasn’t
lost the spark that made her such a luminous
presence in Ladyhawke twenty-two years
ago. It’s too bad that her best
moments are quickly shoved aside so she
can become a canvas for makeup artists.
(When one spell begins to lose its, um,
“holding power,” her breasts
suddenly sag.) Pfeiffer’s bold,
self-effacing performance makes us wish
for a role that takes full advantage of
her talents, and her beauty, soon.
[...]
From: The
Looking Closer Journal
[...] Because the
characters are all driven by a specific
need, they drive the story. Michelle Pfeiffer,
who had lots of fun hamming it up in "Hairspray,"
has even more of a blast in "Stardust,"
as the leader of a coven of three wicked
sisters. A temporary spell enables her
to regain her youthful looks, but in order
to make her youth a more permanent feature,
she needs to kill the star and cut out
its heart, which she's looking forward
to. As a young woman, Pfeiffer always
had a down-to-earth, put-upon grumpiness,
but that quality was never really exploited.
Now in her late 40s, she may be coming
into her queen years in a particularly
entertaining way. She seems to genuinely
relish being imperious and appalling.

Interview
at LATIMES.com about Stardut, comeback
and more... August
9, 2007
And
today LATimes.com
also publish an interesting interview
with Michelle Pfeiffer
during the promotion of Stardust
by Susan King,
titled "Michelle
Pfeiffer: Remember her?".
The actress talks about no having intention
of spending nearly five years away from
the silver screen: "You
know, it just happened."
She talks about the time during her hiatus:
"I may very
well have been reading good scripts and
I wasn't inclined to say 'yes.' Maybe
I needed a break. I think how long I have
been working. . . . I have been working
since I was 14. I have really never taken
a break. I think maybe my psyche was just
telling me not to work for a while."
"People have
been asking me what I have been doing
the past few years. I have hardly come
up for a breath," she reports.
"It's all the
mundane stuff. I try to be everywhere
all the time. Of course, we know that's
impossible, but I am going to make it
work . . . damn it!"
And also about her love for working:
"I can't ever
imagine retiring. I don't get why somebody
would want to look forward to retirement.
What are you going to do?"
About Stardust,
she tells how she met the director in
the first time and how he convinced to
accept the part --that chat which Mattew
Vaughn has told on several interviews.
now Michelle's version-- : "He
literally had the entire movie in a big
binder. He had already begun to storyboard,
so I could really get a strong idea of
his vision of the film and also the direction
he wanted to take his character"
Michelle
Pfeiffer interviewd at OrlandoSentinel.com August
7, 2007
OrlandoSentinel.com
published yesterday a wonderful interview
by Roger Moore
--Sentinel Movie Critic-- in Beverly Hills
with Michelle Pfeiffer
, titled "Call
it whatever, but Michelle Pfeiffer is
back" for the promotion of
Stardust,
here some quotes of the actress:
About
her re-emergence: "I
thought I'd be hearing that a lot more
these past few weeks. But nobody's saying
'comeback.' It surprises me that I haven't
been hearing that, because I would think
that, too, about me."
"I was reading
things, not really finding anything that
made me want to go back to work. That's
kind of my fall-back position, now: 'No.'
I got kind of busy with life. Years went
by, and I had to say to myself, 'I'd better
go back and see if I even want to do this
anymore. It wasn't like I was afraid.
But I knew I was rusty. And I found out
how rusty. It wasn't like getting back
on a bike, I tell you."
About her doubts when she accepted the
part in Stardust:
"I thought,
right from the start, 'Oh my God, how
am I going to do this?' And I just pulled
myself together and said, 'You have to.
You made a commitment. You can't bail
on these people.'"
And about her future at movies: "I
realized, working again, that I like it
and that I need it. It makes me a better
mom, I hope. I finally have an idea about
how to balance home and work. So maybe
by this winter, after we've gotten completely
reacquainted....."

issue of the British edition of Esquire.
The actress has been photographed by
Rankin, the
fashion photographer who created Dazed
& Confused magazine. We will

Let's remember, the last issue of Equire
which Michelle was on the cover was in

we talked about that cover --here on News--
a week ago according the interview with
Michelle by ExtraTv where the actress

from Youtube.com:
Finally
our Michelle got her STAR at 'Hollywood
Walk of Fame'!! August
6, 2007
Hey!!
Finally our muse got her --wished by all
us-- Star at Hollywood
Walk Of Fame!! I have to recognize
I feel so excited and touched! She really
should have gotten one a long time ago!
It has been this morning at 11:30 a.m.
at 6801 Hollywood
Blvd in front of the Hollywood
and Highland complex. Paul
Rudd (her partner in the upcoming
in USA I
Could Never Be Your Woman)
and Jeff Bridges
(her partner in The
Fabulous Baker Boys) have attended
the event. Also her husband, the producer
David E Kelley
and her children Claudia
Rose and John
Henry have accompanied Michelle.
This event is full of meant for all us,
pfans from around the word. This recognition
for our Michelle have been long time waited.
On the other hand, one of
us, Michael --pfan and pfriend of this
site-- who attended the event, has done
a wonderful chronicle of it. You can read
his beautiful words at the Pforum.
Here I've taken out a little part full
of meant for me:
"[...] When Paul
Rudd mentioned "I
could never be your woman"
there was a lot of applause behind me
and both Paul and Michelle looked in the
direction of the crowd and asked have
you seen the movie and then Paul added
or are you from Spain [...]"
Michelle
also at 'Early show' to promote 'Stardust'. August
6, 2007
After
we reported this morning about the talk-shows
which Michelle Pfeiffer
will attend this week, I've received more
news about it. Lauren
Tyler, pfriend and pfan of PfeifferTheFace,
has let me know that the suppose only
day free of interviews, Thursday
9th, also will be leaded by our
Michelle, it will be at The
Early Show on CBS.
So now week can say that it will be the
great week of promotion of Michelle, yes...
the great return!!
Thanks a lot Lauren
Tyler for the info!
'Hairspray'
at the box-office in its third weekend. August
6, 2007
Hairspray
movie has been placed on the #5
place (the past week it was the #4). Over
the movie have been placed two new releases
of this week, The
Bourne Ultimatum (#1) and Underdog
(#3); on the #2 the release of the past
week, The Simpsons
Movie; and place on #4, I
Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
released the same week od Hairspray.
We can think that the musical is being
a success. According BoxOfficeMojo,
Hairspray
had the smallest dip and it was still
down 41 percent. It scored an estimated
$9.3 million for $79
million in 17 days and could become
one of the ten most attended musicals
of the past 30 years.
On the other hand, the movie was on the
#2 place during the past week (Tuesday,
Wednesday and Thursday). So I guess the
drop on the BoxOffice chart will be slow!.
Besides, this weekend --I guess-- thanks
the Stardust
release, we'll have two movies played
by Michelle on the Top Ten! I hope!
Michelle

New
clips of 'Stardust' at Movies.com. August
4, 2007
Movies.com
has published new clips of Stardust
movie, you can see new videos and besides
two new Featurettes: "Cast
and Story" and "Book
to Screen" with new footage of
Michelle Pfeiffer
in the movie and images from the filming
set:
The article titled: "Michelle
Pfeiffer: 'Airbrush Disaster Left Me in
Tears'", tells that Michelle
talks about age in Hollywood: "You
know, I think as you get older, the more
obsessed you become" she said,
"The unrealistic
standards of beauty, whether they’re
body types, the way women look, the airbrushed
image we see on magazines, mine included"
That’s right – even the flawless
actress says she’s airbrushed, and
despite the appearance of perfection,
she feels just as insecure about her looks
as many women do.
“Did I say,
‘Don’t airbrush that wrinkle
out?’ Are you kidding me? You think
I’m nuts, but you know, I’m
the first to admit what it is!”
she revealed. Michelle said airbrushing
isn’t everything most folks think
it is. It’s meant to cover imperfections,
but oftentimes it can bring up old insecurities.
She told “Extra” that years
ago, one botched airbrush cover left her
in tears. “They
lopped off my chin. I knew I had some
acne; they were going to fix that. But
they did all kinds of things to my face,
and I was really upset about it,”
she admitted.
I
guess the image which Michelle talks about
is the cover of Esquire
magazine
(December 1990), which involved an
scandal because behind the photo's caption
which read, "What
Michelle Pfeiffer Needs...Is Absolutely
Nothing.", Haper's published
the invoice from Jane
Scott Associates, Inc. charged
Esquire for the following work, described
in a purchase order obtained and reprinted
by Adbusters "Clean
up complexion, soften eye lines, soften
smile line, add color to lips, trim chin,
remove neck lines, soften line under ear
lobe ... remove stray hair ... adjust
color and add hair on top of head ...
add dress on side to create better line
... "
Confirmed:
Michelle Pfeiffer to be on Hollywood Wallk

2, 2007
It

Chamber of Commerce Website. The ceremony

Mayor of Hollywood Johnny
Grant, Hollywood Chamber of Commerce,
President/CEO Leron
Gubler, and as Guest speakers,
Jeff Bridges,
her partner in one of the best movies
of la Pfeiffer, The
Fabulous Baker Boys.
And it will be the 2,345th Star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame.
...
And also Variety raves about Pfeiffer's
Lamia!!. August
2, 2007
Now
Variety
also publishes its review about Stardust,
according John Anderson.
You can read the full review in Variety
website.
"[...] The best thing in the film,
Pfeiffer
shows great comedic timing, and her metamorphoses
-- as Lamia careens from flourishing beauty
to horrible crone -- show considerable
courage, as the actress manages to be
funny regardless of what state of decrepitude
she's in. It's not a very admirable character,
after all: Lamia turns people into goats
and goats into people, and she and her
sisters foretell the future by hacking
up animals and reading their entrails.
They're not the most in-demand dinner
guests.
Pic saves itself through a lot of incidental
humor. Pfeiffer
delivers elaborate, well-timed eye-rolls
when things like eternal youth don't go
her way. [...]"
Thank
to the release of Stardust
the upcoming August 10, we will have the
chance to watch to Michelle in several
tv-shows to promote the movie.
The actress will be Tonight
Show with Jay
Leno on August 6th on NBC and Late
Late Show with Craig
Ferguson on August 9th on CBS.
And also, remember that Inside
The Actor Studio episode with Michelle
will be bradcasted the upcoming August
6th too!
I hope we can get it! Have you got ready
your Dvd recorder??
