Michelle
Pfeiffer's Star at Hollywood Boulevard. July 31,
2007
We
reported falingl past year that Michelle
Pfeiffer would get her Stard at
"Walk of Fame"
this year, but we didn't known when would
be the waited event.
And now finally the event will take place
the upcoming August
6, 2007 at 11:30 a.m. on the Walk
of Fame, on Hollywood Boulevard. It will
coincide with the release of Stardust
in USA (August 10).
About this News, I've known it through
Jackie, pfan
and visitor of PfeifferTheFace,
who has let me know. Although I don't
know her source, so it is not official
at the moment.
The
One Reason Michelle Pfeiffer Chose Stardust
Role: De Niro! July 31,
2007
And today,
another video of Michelle
Pfeiffer in ExtraTv
with footage of 'Stardust'
and in a promotion-interview with Michelle
and Robert De Niro.
According ExtraTv,
"it's almost hard to believe that
wicked witch in 'Stardust' is one of the
most beautiful women in the world! Michelle
Pfeiffer told Extra there's only one reason
she accepted Matthew Vaughn's wild role
in the fantasy film. Hint: He's sitting
right next to her."
The
Hollywood Reporter in love with Michelle's
Lamia in 'Stardust'. July 31,
2007
And
The
Hollywood Reporter, one of the most
important show-business newspapers around
the world, has already published one of
the reviews for Stardust.
The journalist ans critic Sura
Wood has love the part of Michelle
in the movie:
"[...] The
ultra-evil, uber witch Lamia (the terrific
Michelle
Pfeiffer,
who has gone from a delicious bitch goddess
in "Hairspray"
to a bona fide, wicked witch here), seeks
the star's heart for its promise of eternal
youth and beauty.
Only an actress
as beautiful as the graceful Pfeiffer
would allow herself to be rendered bald,
aged and grotesque by startling special
effects and makeup and have such a great
time in the role. Her delight is palpable,
and she gives a fully realized performance.
Her Lamia is resourceful and genuinely
scary rather than cartoonish. [...]
"
The
trasnformation of Michelle Pfeiffer in
'Stardust' at USA Today. July 30,
2007
Anthony
Breznican from USA
Today publishes today an interesting
interview with Michelle
Pfeiffer about her transformation
on Lamia in Stardust:
"Pfeiffer transforms
from bewitching to just witchy"
In Stardust,
Michelle Pfeiffer
plays the ancient witch Lamia, who restores
her youth and vitality by devouring the
human form of a fallen star. Here's her
transition from glam to ghoul:
The witch begins as an ancient crone,
who consumes
the last bit of her previous star so she
can pursue her latest meteoric meal (in
the form of Claire
Danes). But at her loveliest, the
witch can barely pull herself away from
a mirror. "Eternal
youth and the obsession with it is something
we poke fun at," says Pfeiffer,
Each time Lamia uses her powers, it saps
her restored beauty: "We
started with the aging spots on the arms
and exaggerated veins painted on. Then
we had stages of jowls and different levels
of wattle.
"There
were different degrees of breast droopage.
And we had story meeting after meeting
with these discussions on whether it was
my left or right breast that would droop.
It's so bizarre to have a meeting on that,"
she says. "There
was an actual mechanism inside the costume.
Let's just say we had a lot of trial and
error."
The idea of playing a 5,000-year-old
"was more fun
than the actual execution of it,"
Pfeiffer says.
Finally
the event took place, and I have to admit
that it has catched me unaware!!... Well,
so many events, news, interviews... all
this too fast! but we were able to see
to our pfantastic Michelle
Pfeiffer again. The premiere of
the waited Stardust
movie was at the Paramount
Studio Theater yesterday, July
29, 2007 in Los Angeles.
And almost the full cast attended the
event, Michelle
Pfeiffer -in blue, with her husband,
David E Kelley,
daughter Claudia
Rose and sister DeDee-
Robert De Niro,
Charlie Cox,
Claire Danes,
Jason Flemyng,
Vinnie Jones,
Nathaniel Parker
among others..., the Paramount producer
Lorenzo di Bonaventura
and movie director Matthew
Vaughn, and of course the writer
of the novel Neil
Gaiman.
New
release date for 'I Could Never Be Your
Woman'!! Newly delayed. July 27,
2007
How
many release dates have we known for I
Could Never Be Your Woman along
these last two years? Aren't you tired
of it? I seems -according our contributor
Dennis-
they're gonna change it till world's end!!...
will be it the story for the new tv-series:
"Desesperate
Pfeiffer-Pfans"?
Well, now our other great contributor
Juanita
provides us of the new release date of
the movie in USA, it is sheduled to be
launched the upcoming November
9th of this year. The reasons for
all these changes... well, we would love
to know... pfeiffertheface.com
will offer a juicy reward whom can let
us know! jejeje
And on the other hand, my brother Bond
reports us that the Taiwan release date
just moved from November to October
19 2007 now. Really incredible!
Such
we reported in this early month, scheduled
for yesterday, July 26 (1:30-3:30), Paramount
Pictures presented Stardust
among other films at Comic-Con
2007.
On a press conference, Guest of Honor
Neil Gaiman
and screenwriter Jane
Goldman talked about the movie.
And they also brought along a clip of
Michelle Pfeiffer
as the evil witch trying to capture and
kill the fallen star (Claire
Danes). According to Neil
Miller from FilmSchoolRejects.com,
the clip shows a film that is very whimsical
and destined to be one of the better fantasy
flicks of the year.
'Hairspray'
Soundtrack rules on the Billboard chart July 27,
2007
According
Billboard.com
-the world's premier music publication-
there's no stopping the "Hairspray"
(New Line) soundtrack, which debuted last
week at No. 20 before the movie had opened.
Now entrenched in the box office top 10,
the CD also dances its way into the top
10 of The Billboard 200. A 20-4 move makes
the album only the second motion picture
soundtrack to find a berth in the top
10 in 2007. The first soundtrack to spend
time in the top 10 this year was "Dreamgirls,"
which went all the way to No. 1.
"Hairspray"
is also represented on the Hot 100, where
the rousing finale song "You
Can't Stop the Beat" (written
for the Broadway musical version of "Hairspray")
enters at No. 88. One cast member of "Hairspray"
also figures in another song that is new
to the Hot 100 this week. That would be
Zac Efron.
New

the trailer.
Michelle
Pfeiffer: "the big bad villain" July 24,
2007
According
Fred Topel
in RottenTomatoes.com
--on an article titled: Pfeiffer
Not So Bad in Stardust. A pair of witchy
roles in two of this summer's biggest
flicks, where the actress talks
about being a bad girl in movies--, the
previews for Stardust
show Michelle Pfeiffer
as the big bad villain. She's the old
witch using evil magic to stop the hero
from rescuing the star. But she's asking
for a little forgiveness:
"Even though
my character is sort of being talked about
as the villain of Stardust, everyone is
a villain in Stardust," she
said. "I'm
probably the ugliest villain in Stardust,
for sure, and the oldest because I age.
I'm 5,000 years old or something ridiculous
like that."
So reserve your judgments until you see
her whole performance, because she did
her darndest to make her character well-rounded.
"I think as
fun as these characters are to play in
the beginning, you don't want to fall
into the trap of just going out and being
mean because mean people don't think they're
being mean. Mean people think they're
completely justified in their outbursts
or their comments and the truth underneath
it all, they're fighting and angry. They
feel like the victim, as twisted as they
might be, so that's also why it's so interesting
to play those because you kind of get
to figure that all out."
'Hairspray'
sang as the best musical opening on record
July 24,
2007
Yesterday,
we reported about the first weekend of
Hairspray
at Box-Office according BoxOfficeMojo.com,
now Variety.com
offers new facts about it, according Pamela
McClintock's Variety, "New
Line's "Hairspray" sang as the
best musical opening on record."
"Hairspray"
made an estimated $27.8 million from 3,121
locations, far outpacing predictions that
it would gross somewhere around $20 million.
New Line prexy of distribution David
Tuckerman said "Hairspray"
worked so well because it is "terrific
entertainment. As
predicted, a large portion of the aud
was female, but he noted that more than
30% was male. This is a peculiar movie
where males don't want to go, but once
they get in there, they love the movie.
That's positive," Tuckerman
said.
The 1982 "Best
Little Whorehousein
Texas" previously held the
record for best opening for a musical,
at $11 million. "Rent,"
released in 2005, was next best at $10
million. Recent musicals like "Chicago"
and "Dreamgirls"
all opened in limited runs. Perf of "Hairspray"
is a needed boost for New Line, whose
most recent releases have been underperformers,
including "Fracture"
and "The Number
23." Studio is expected to
have another crowdpleaser with "Rush
Hour 3," which opens next
month.
First
weekeed of 'Hairspray' at Box-Office July 23,
2007
This
weekeend Hairspray
was the word, delivering the biggest opening
on record for a musical (even when ticket
price inflation is taken into account)
althoug it took the thrird place in the
ranking. On the top "I
Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry"
(also launched this week got the #1) and
"Harry Potter
and the Order of the Phoenix"
(in its second week, the #2)
According BoxOfficeMojo,
New Line Cinema's early Sixties-themed
musical based on the Broadway show that
was based on John
Waters' picture of the same name
spritzed a lustrous estimated $27.8
million on approximately 3,900
screens at 3,121 theaters, the widest
release ever for the genre. The 1988 original,
also released by New Line, grossed $6.7
million in its entire run, the equivalent
of roughly $11 million today.
Among musical opening weekends adjusted
for ticket price inflation, Hairspray
edged out The Best
Little Whorehouse in Texas from
1982 and Grease
from 1978, starring Hairspray's John
Travolta, both of which were also
summer releases. For perspective, though,
those pictures had a fraction of Hairspray's
theater count, and their era was considerably
less weighted towards openings. In fact,
Grease went
on to become one of the most popular musicals
with a final gross that would adjust to
over $500 million today.
Like
hair product-titled Grease,
Hairspray
appealed as bright, nostalgic fun and
was a unique offering in the market, mostly
for female moviegoers like The
Devil Wears Prada last summer.
It marks New Line's first $20 million-plus
launch since Wedding
Crashers two years ago and breaks
the distributor's losing streak that had
persisted since Final
Destination 3 in February 2006.
Reviewers
talk about Michelle Pfeiffer in 'Hairspray' July 22,
2007
All the reviews
on Hairspray
are talking about Michelle
Pfeiffer's Velma, and they are
really good!! Here some passages of them:
Pfeiffer
is the most sublime ice queen/dragon lady/femme
fatale to grace the screen since, I don't
know, Jessica Rabbit (LA
Times' CalendarLive.com)
Pfeiffer sang in "The Fabulous Baker
Boys" but hasn't appeared in an official
musical since "Grease 2" early
in her career. She's the biggest surprise
here, surpassing even James Marsden's
unsuspected vocal prowess as the quietly
subversive Corny Collins. Pfeiffer's not
only very funny, but she also belts out
a couple of Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman's
clever doo-wop/R&B numbers with aplomb.(New
York Post)
Michelle Pfeiffer, licking every delicious
drop of the role's sexy villainy (RollingStone.com)
In her first on-screen role in five years,
Michelle Pfeiffer plays the antagonist,
Velma, and the Barbie-doll racist now
dominates more of the narrative. Her comeuppance,
part of the film's flat-footed climax,
isn't enough. Pfeiffer handles the shtick
well, but overemphasizing this bland witch
makes for heavier going. (MetroMix.com)
Pfeiffer restarts her career with a bang
after five years offscreen, turning Velma
into a tight-lipped vamp quivering with
racist politesse. That said, the scene
I'll pack away in my movie-memento scrapbook
doesn't involve either actress.(Boston.com)
Sure,
it's great to see purr-fectly slinky Pfeiffer
again playing a catty woman—meow!
But the lengthy scene in which her hissable
villain tries to seduce joke-shop owner
Walken doesn't land on its comic feet.
Get out the clippers, because their clumsy
shtick trips up the film's pacing and—like
Pfeiffer's claws—needs a good (E!
Online)
I wish that Michelle Pfeiffer, as the
villainous Velma Von Tussle, had a more
memorable song to express her dragon-lady
WASP disdain. But Hairspray gets its vibe
back quickly enough, and the climactic
number sends you out on a high. (EW.com)
The adult cast is a little more of a
mixed bag. Michelle Pfeiffer’s got
a tough job playing Velma Von Tussle.
She’s a good villain, and she seems
game for anything, but she is hindered
by the worst song in the movie (“Miss
Baltimore Crabs”), and it almost
seems like she did something to piss off
cinematographer Bojan Bazelli. I spent
an afternoon sitting beside her last year
on the STARDUST set, and she’s still
a beautiful woman close-up. I’m
not sure you’d know it based on
how she looks here. (Ain't
it Cool News)
The
great promotion of 'Stardust' has begun! July 21,
2007
Paramount
Pictures has already begun the
great campaign of promotion of Stardust
movie. You can see big posters of the
film on buses and billboards announcing
the single characters, here you can see
an example of Pfeiffer's Lamia with the
tagline: "Wicked
Witches":
On the other hand don'f forget vote for

on the poll: Which
August release are you anticipating the
most? (the Poll is at the right
side of the page. You have to scroll down

And today the
second Stardust
clip with Michelle
Pfeiffer, this time it has been
launched by Comic

Paramount Pictures.
The clip features featuring Michelle and
Ricky Gervais
in a memorable scene,
Exclusive
'Stardust' clip at ComingSoon.net July 19,
2007
ComingSoon.net
has got an exclusive Stardust
clip cortesy of Paramount
Pictures. The clip features Michelle
Pfeiffer as the evil witch, Lamia,
who overpowers Tristan (Cox)
and Yvaine (Danes).
Lamia needs Yvaine, who was a star that
transformed into a girl, to become young
again.... (Our Michelle looks really scary
in this!)
More
praise reviews for Michelle Pfeiffer in
'Stardust' July 19,
2007
And today more
new reviews about Pfeiffer's Lamia in
Stardust:
From
IndyMogul.com:
[...] Chris Cox
does a wonderful job as Tristan, the young
protagonist, while Michelle
Pfeiffer commands the screen as the evil
witch, Lamia, and Robert
De Niro adds a large dose of humor
as a captain who is not who he appears
to be. For anyone who has read the novel,
Claire Danes
as the choice for Yvaine, the fallen star,
may have seemed strange, but she holds
the role surprisingly well against the
rest of the cast. [...]
And for Crused
For Inertia, the only good of the
movie: [...] The only character I found
even remotely appealing was Witch Queen
Lamia, played by Michelle
Pfeiffer with some actual relish
and personality. The best shot in the
film is Lamia's rapid transformation from
an old hag into the only somewhat-old
Michelle Pfeiffer,
which is funny and even kind of sexy,
though I did wonder why a witch casting
a youth spell on herself would turn into
the middle-aged version of Michelle
Pfeiffer. Shouldn't it have been
Fabulous
Baker BoysMichelle
Pfeiffer? Or even ScarfaceMichelle Pfeiffer?
I mean, we are talking a realm of sorcery
and magic. (I'm making fun of Pfeiffer
a bit, but she's the only one who really
commits to this world and her character,
and she gets almost all of the films best
little jokes and moments, so I really
appreciated her presence. She gets more
laughs out of an arched eyebrow than 2
hours of quipping spirits and effeminate
sky sailors could muster.[...]
New
release dates for 'Stardust' in Europe July 19,
2007
According
to Dennis,
one of our contributors in Germany, the
release date of Stardust
in his country has been pushed back (it
was October 3 previously), now it's October
18th. You can check the release
dates of your country at IMDB.com
(you can read here the main launches):
Australia
and Hong Kong:
20 September 2007 Netherlands
4 October 2007 Brazil, Denmark
and Italy:
12 October 2007 Germany: 18
October 2007 UK: 19 October
2007 Belgium and
France: 24
October 2007 Spain: 26
October 2007 Japan: 27
October 2007
By the proximity in time of the main
countries of Europa, it could mean that
part of the movie cast might come to these
places to promote the movie. I'd love
if Michelle did.
'I
Could Never be Your Woman' goes on been
launched in the world July 18,
2007
It
seems I
Could Never Be Your Woman is
being launched World-wide. It is now released
in Belgium
today and Belga
Films is the Distribution Company
there.
On the other hand, also Portugal
will launch tomorrow, July
19, the movie. There the movie
has been re-baptized as:
Nem Contigo... Nem
Sem Ti! ("Neither Without
You...Neither With You" in English),
a title which was chosen by votes of the
people at lusomundo.sapo.pt
(see
facts and more pics at RFM
Online.
And besides, my brother Bond
- Gorgeous
Pfeiffer - has found the Chinese version
of the poster, which has been published
for it's Taiwan market. the title is featured
in Chinese words and also they put the
ages for both Michelle and Paul's character
on the poster(40 and 29) and besides the
movie was rescheduled again and was moved

who recorded it. So if you missed the
interview, you can watch here:
Thanks a lot our Juanita
for your wonderful work!.
New
reviews of Pfeiffer's Lamia on 'Stardust' July 17,
2007
Here new reviews
of Stardust
-here the parts referred to Michelle
Pfeiffer's character):
From
Newsarama.com:
[...] Another major surprise is Pfeiffer
as the malevolent Lamia. You have to be
blind not to see the former sex kitten
is maturing magnificently (she will be
50 next year). What’s even more
impressive is while her good looks have
held up exceedingly well, she’s
also not afraid of putting on a ton of
makeup and playing a vicious crone with
a gigantic obsidian blade who knows how
to use it. The inevitable final confrontation
between her and Cox
shows that the five year gap she took
between projects, her last live action
acting role was the film White
Oleander, has truly recharged her
batteries. Her Lamia has to be her strongest
performance since she appeared in A
Midsummer’s Night Dream.
[...] After all, as said before, the idea
of DeNiro in drag shuffling to the Can
Can could have been one truly horrendous
sight if handled even slightly off base.
As it stands, Gaiman
and Vaughn
manage to take this scene and other things
that should have fallen flat on their
face and made it into probably one of
the truly best films of the summer, if
not the year in general [...].
And from Comics2film.com:
[...] Tristan must battle an evil witch
(played brilliantly and against type by
Michelle Pfeiffer)
[...] 'Stardust'
is a film that both young and old alike
will enjoy and could very well become
a fairytale classic.
Michelle
Pfeiffer on the 'Today Show' July 17,
2007
We reported
about it, Michelle
Pfeiffer has been this morning
on NBC's Today Show,
at Hairspray Week
to promote the film. Finally you can see
here the video!
Thanks a lot our Juanita
for your wonderful work!.
Michelle
Pfeiffer could have been in ‘Urban
Cowboy’ July 17,
2007
During
the Hairspray
premiere in New York, John
Travolta told Access
Hollywood’s Tim
Vincent "I
wanted Michelle, I wanted Chris Walken,
and I thought they were important because
they have a pedigree of musical",
"Oh, that
makes me feel really good because (Travolta
is) absolutely one of the reasons that
I did it,” Michelle
Pfeiffer said. “When
I found out that he was playing, I thought,
‘brilliant.’ There aren’t
that many actors that could pull that
part off.”
But we didn't knew a new fact about the
connection between Travolta
& Pfeiffer
in the past:
“We heard
that (Pfeiffer) auditioned for ‘Urban
Cowboy’
many years ago,” said Vincent
told Travolta. “Do
you remember anything about that?”
“She was very
good,” Travolta replied,
noting that Rene Russo and Kim Basinger
were also up for the female lead in the
1980 film. “She
could act it, but Debra
(Winger)
was more kind of (a) ‘cowgirl’
type. The other girls were more ‘beauties.’”
As for Pfeiffer, she remembered that
audition very well. “He
was so sweet to me,” she
recalled. “It
was so many years ago, and I was so nervous,
and got to dance with him. No, I didn’t
get the part, but he was just darling.”
I guess, we pfans are memembering
that quote of Michelle in a interview
with Esquire
(December 1990) when she was asked
for her early years on movies: "I
remember that I used to get on the phone
with Ellen
Barkin. We
were both unemployed. Nobody would hire
us. Every part that we wanted, Debra
Winger would
steal. We could not get a job and we'd
be hysterical for hours on the phone,
bitching and moaning and kvetching."
'Hairspray'
Premiere in New York City July 17,
2007
...
And taking advantaje of being in New Yok,

The
promotional world for Stardust is starting July 15,
2007
According
Neil
Gaiman says in his livejournal,
the promotion wheel is going to move on
Stardust.
The promotional world for the movie is
starting, which has a nervous author who
was convinced that no-one in the world
is going to know about the movie, or that
it's good, starting to breathe a sigh
of relief. There are free screenings starting
to get the word out, and according to
Google news, if you buy stuff at French
Connection you can get free tickets...
And Gaiman shows in the site a phone
picture of the new posters which have
been spotted in Manhattan. They take some
elements from the original poster and
rearrange them...

2007
The
reformed boy band - Mark Owen, Gary Barlow,
Jason Orange and Howard Donald - have
recorded a theme track, entitled Rule
The World, for Matthew Vaughan's
Stardust.
And Ladbrokes have announced that the
track - which has been produced by award-winning
John Shank
who worked on the lads' album Beautiful
World - was 3/1 favourite to win
the Best Original Song at next year's
ceremony.
A source said: "The
track is brilliant and must be in with
an excellent chance of the Best Original
Song Oscar. It is the main theme and also
drops in throughout the film, so it really
leaves its mark on the movie and its viewers."
New

Finally I've

Very interesting.
Moved
the broadcast of Michelle Pfeiffer's Inside
The Actors Studio July 12,
2007
A
week ago we reported that the broadcast
of Michelle Pfeiffer's
Inside
The Actors Studio would be
the upcoming July 16, now, they has moved
Michelle's show to August
6th.
I guess they have done so to coincide
with the launch of Stardust
movie (August 10) and take advantaje of
the release, I don't sure if the Production/distribution
Company has done something for this change.
So now, this July 16, we will be able
to see only the Late

Thanks Roderick
