Michelle Pfeiffer took part as chorus among other celebrities in "Voices That Care" a song in 1991 written by David Foster, Linda Thompson and Peter Cetera and recorded by a supergroup of popular musicians such as Michael Bolton, Bobby Brown, Céline Dion and Will Smith among others (all have a line in the song), entertainers such as Meryl Streep, Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell among many others and also athletes.
The single and supporting documentary music video was intended to help boost the morale of U.S. troops involved in Operation Desert Storm, as well as supporting the International Red Cross organization.
The documentary, which followed the recording of the single to the music video's presentation to the troops in the Middle East, aired on Fox on February 28, 1991. It was written and directed by David S. Jackson. It was hosted by James Woods.
Foster invited Warren Wiebe, a friend and little-known vocalist at the time, to sing lead and deliver the last solo lines of the song.
"Voices That Care" reached number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100, number 3 on the Hot 100 Singles Sales, number 13 on the Billboard Hot 100 Airplay, and number 6 on the Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks.
